Discover the grape variety: Welschriesling

Lively and aromatic dry whites with a pale golden robe, a supple palate and preserved acidity, with signature aromas of citrus (lemon), white flowers (acacia), almond and white-fleshed fruits. Also a pillar of botrytised dessert wines (Austrian TBA) — round and candied. Grown in Austria, northern Italy (Riesling Italico), Hungary (Olaszrizling), Croatia (Graševina) and Romania. Native Central European white grape with no genetic link to German Riesling.

The wine region of Achaia

North Peloponnese coast around Patras, vineyards from coastal plain to slopes of Panachaïkos and Chelmos mountains (>1,000 m). Roditis white-rosé king (PDO Patra): crisp and refreshing with citrus, white peach, melon, white flowers and herbal touch — emblem of Greek summers. Mavrodaphne fortified sweet red king (aged min. 1 year in barrel): deep and velvety with fig, raisin, cocoa, coffee, caramel.

The wine region of Peloponnesos

Southern Greece, the country's 2nd region by volume, high-altitude vineyards (200-900 m). Signature Agiorgitiko at Nemea ("Hercules' Blood"): deep ruby reds with signature notes of black cherry, plum, blackberry, sweet spices and a balsamic touch, supple tannins and a velvety palate — fleshy and accessible. At Mantinia (600 m), pink-skinned Moschofilero gives aromatic whites (rose, citrus, white flowers). Sweet fortified Mavrodaphne, fresh Roditis.

The word of the wine: Black Grenache

Grenache is a black grape variety that originated in Spain and is one of the great quality varieties of southern France. Sometimes vinified on its own, it is most often blended with one or more other Rhone or southern grape varieties with complementary qualities such as Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan or Cinsault. Its wines are warm, with aromas of red fruits (cherry) and spices; they oxidize with time. Vinified alone or in very large proportions, Grenache Noir also makes great natural sweet wines in Roussillon (Rivesaltes, Banyuls, Maury) and in the Rhône Valley (Rasteau).
