The wine region of Beaujolais
Kingdom of Gamay (98% of the vineyard): fruity, accessible reds with signature notes of cherry, raspberry, banana (carbonic maceration), violet and sweet spices, supple tannins and juicy acidity. From festive Beaujolais Nouveau (3rd Thursday of November) to the 10 more structured, age-worthy Crus: deep earthy Morgon, sturdy Moulin-à-Vent, floral Fleurie, crunchy Brouilly. The word of the wine: Côte des Bar
This is the name given to the vineyards of the Aube, which are closer to Burgundy, and some of the wines produced here bear witness to this proximity. The pinot noir dominates, the meunier is practically absent. Two crus have become references: Riceys, where a rosé without bubbles is also produced, and Montgueux near Troyes, renowned for its Chardonnay.
