The wine region of Messinia
Greek IGP of the south-western Peloponnese (Messenia, open to the Ionian Sea), vineyards above 50 m, temperate Mediterranean climate — pioneer of international varieties in Greece. Fileri is the signature white (aromatic clone of Moschofilero): dry and floral with citrus, rose, lychee and a mineral touch, lively acidity. Roditis vivid, Assyrtiko taut and Chardonnay generous as whites. Mandilaria dense, Fokiano fruity, Cabernet and Merlot as supple Mediterranean reds.
The wine region of Peloponnesos
Southern Greece, the country's 2nd region by volume, high-altitude vineyards (200-900 m). Signature Agiorgitiko at Nemea ("Hercules' Blood"): deep ruby reds with signature notes of black cherry, plum, blackberry, sweet spices and a balsamic touch, supple tannins and a velvety palate — fleshy and accessible. At Mantinia (600 m), pink-skinned Moschofilero gives aromatic whites (rose, citrus, white flowers). Sweet fortified Mavrodaphne, fresh Roditis.
The word of the wine: Reserve wine (champagne)
Older wines, kept in vats or aged in wood in some houses, or kept in magnums at Bollinger. A small percentage of these wines are used in the blending of non-vintage wines in order to bring greater aromatic complexity.
