The wine region of Puente Alto

Viticultural zone south of Santiago in Chilean Maipo (Andean foothills, rocky alluvial soils limiting vigour, semi-arid Mediterranean climate with 300 mm rain, strong diurnal swings from alpine winds): signature Cabernet Sauvignon as prestigious red — concentrated profile with firm tannins and ferrous minerality, small berries from water stress. Complementary Carménère, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot.

The wine region of Central Valley

Heart of modern Chilean wine: structured, sunny reds, dense, blackcurranty Cabernet Sauvignon from Maipo (Chilean cradle of the grape), signature Carménère with notes of ripe pepper, black fruit and sweet spices from Colchagua, supple Merlot and deep Syrah. Round Chardonnay whites and lively, sharp Sauvignon. Mediterranean climate, 400 km between Andes and Pacific. Star sub-regions: Maipo, Cachapoal, Colchagua, Curicó, Maule.

The word of the wine: Gravelle

Term designating the deposit of tartar crystals in bottled white wines.
