Château Pibran is a large vineyard located in Pauillac, in the vineyard classified in 1855, in Gironde, France. The estate spans 25 hectares (62 acres), of which 14.7 hectares are dedicated to winemaking (in red). Château Pibran primarily grows traditional Bordeaux grape varieties cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot and cabernet franc. Most of the soil is composed of gravel with sand and clay on the Cantenac plateau and clay on the slopes. The Château was purchased by the nephew of Chevalier Paul Lesdema in 1891, and was part of the Mouton Rothschild appellation for over 40 years. In 1922, it was sold to the Lurton family who developed it into a quality vineyard. The Lurtons are renowned for their commitment to providing exceptional wines and their work at Château Pibran is no exception. The family business, led by Jean-Philippe, tenth generation of the Lurton family, has implemented sustainable ecological practices such as the use of alternative methods for spreading phytosanitary products, the implementation of green covers to promote symbiosis between different crops and the use of natural products as substitutes for phytosanitary products. The annual harvest of Château Pibran revolves around 2800 hectoliters, or 460,000 bottles of wine sold each year. The wines are known for their freshness and elegance, with aromas of raspberry, blackcurrant, and notes of roasting and vanilla. Château Pibran also produces a second wine named "Cantenac de Pibran". In 2001, the Premier Grand Cru classified from Château Pibran was rated by the Hachette wine guide. Since then, Pibran wines are regularly mentioned with high points by Wine Spectator magazine and other international guides.
