Spanning across 57 hectares in the charming French region of Saint-Estèphe in Gironde, Château Calon-Ségur is a historic wine-growing land surrounded by Bordeaux Supérieur-classified vineyards. The estate was founded in the 18th century by François de Rauzan, and the ties between the family and the Château reached their peak in 1794 when Louis Gaspard de Ségur, mayor of the commune, merged his estate with Château Calon to create Château Calon-Ségur. Château Calon-Ségur is a gem of the Médoc's wine heritage: from its history to its vineyards, everything about this estate has been preserved with a consistent respect for the past. The name illustrates this respect: "Calon" originates from a Latin phrase that translates to "heart, court, and soul," imposing strong values that the estate wishes to embody. In the cellar, Calon-Ségur distinguishes itself by its integrity, both qualitative and quantitative, its wines systematically embodying the characteristics of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. Twenty-five hectares are dedicated to growing plants within the walls of Château Calon-Ségur - with the main vineyard being composed of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. The sum of the vintages starting from 1985, when the Château returned to the Ségur family, represent an excellent wine investment. The quality of the wines results from extensive vine experience and meticulously selected harvests - followed by a maturation that takes place alongside the grapevines. The Château Calon-Ségur makes no compromises when it comes to the quality of its wines. Raised on average lees and under a rigorous climate.
