Structured, elegant reds with a deep ruby robe, firm tannins and lively acidity. Intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry, black pepper, spices, violet and balsamic notes. Dense palate, fine ageing potential. Nearly extinct, it was saved in the 1970s by the winemakers of Prepotto and is the signature of Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC and Friuli Colli Orientali Schioppettino di Prepotto DOC. Native Friulian variety; its name evokes the crackling (schioppettino) on the palate.

Convivial, accessible sparklers from the Grasparossa (the fleshiest and most tannic), Salamino (balanced), Sorbara (pale and floral with red fruits) and Maestri varieties: ruby colour, lively foam, signature notes of cherry, raspberry, violet and flowers, fresh acidity. Grenache is a black grape variety that originated in Spain and is one of the great quality varieties of southern France. Sometimes vinified on its own, it is most often blended with one or more other Rhone or southern grape varieties with complementary qualities such as Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan or Cinsault. Its wines are warm, with aromas of red fruits (cherry) and spices; they oxidize with time. Vinified alone or in very large proportions, Grenache Noir also makes great natural sweet wines in Roussillon (Rivesaltes, Banyuls, Maury) and in the Rhône Valley (Rasteau).
