The wine region of Golden Mile
Pioneer sub-GI of south Okanagan BC (west slope south of Oliver, 300–600 m, east-facing slopes catching morning sun and afternoon cool, BC's first official Sub-GI, 95% of grapes): Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc as Bordeaux-style signature reds often blended — restrained and elegant profile with supple red fruits, refined tannins and vibrant acidity. Mineral Chardonnay as the leading white, aromatic Gewurztraminer and Trebbiano (vines from 1968) as complements.
The wine region of British Columbia
Canada's west-coast benchmark, wine heartland in the Okanagan Valley. Semi-desert continental climate, marked temperature swings: signature Pinot Gris (pear, honey, spice, round palate), fresh, fine Pinot Noir (cherry, undergrowth), precise Chardonnay and taut Riesling in the north. Hot south for dense Cabernet Sauvignon, round Merlot and peppery Syrah. Also exceptional Icewine (Vidal, Riesling).
