Airy, refreshing palate, compared to pinot noir for its finesse. Star of the Kalecik slopes along the Kızılırmak river near Ankara, one of the great ambassadors of the Turkish wine revival. The wine region of Gambellara
Venetian DOC west of Vicenza on basaltic volcanic hills as an extension of Soave, black mineral-rich soils, temperate continental climate. Garganega is king in whites (≥80%): dry and taut with notes of yellow apple, pear, citrus, almond, white flowers and a smoky volcanic mineral touch, straight acidity and saline finish. Trebbiano di Soave as complement. Dry, Classico, fine Spumante, Vin Santo and DOCG Recioto di Gambellara sweet passito.
The wine region of Veneto
World star of Prosecco: fresh, light Glera sparklers with notes of pear, green apple and white flowers, fruity, convivial bubbles. Veronese reds from Corvina and Rondinella: light, crisp Bardolino, fruity Valpolicella, opulent, concentrated Amarone DOCG (black cherry, chocolate, raisin) from dried grapes. Mineral, almondy Soave (Garganega) whites, fresh Pinot Grigio. 97,500 ha, Italy's largest production.
The word of the wine: Amber
(1) A colour close to amber, sometimes taken on by white wines aged for a long time, or by oxidising prematurely. (2) A term used on the label to designate white Rivesaltes aged for at least thirty months in an oxidizing environment.
