Fine ageing potential, developing waxy and truffle nuances with age. Key variety in the great whites of the northern Rhône (Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Saint-Péray) blended with roussanne. Also exported to Australia (Victoria) and California. Cool-climate GI 200 km west of Melbourne (Victoria, 240-440 m): Shiraz signature as king red — rich and powerful signature with intense notes of black fruit (blackberry, cassis), pepper, spices and a floral touch, elegant structure with fine and long profile. Australian cradle of Sparkling Shiraz signature (Seppelt, Champagne method since 1890). Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling as flagship complements.
