The wine region of Chalone is located in the region of Monterey County of California of United States. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Chalone Vineyard or the Domaine Jolie-Laide produce mainly wines red, white and pink. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Chalone are Pinot noir, Chardonnay and Pinot blanc, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Chalone often reveals types of flavors of apples, non oak or floral and sometimes also flavors of vegetal, tropical fruit or citrus fruit.
In the mouth of Chalone is a powerful with a nice freshness. We currently count 35 estates and châteaux in the of Chalone, producing 65 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Chalone go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, veal or game (deer, venison).
Shirakawa 1958 is the only official single malt bottling from the demolished distillery, and is also said to be the earliest single vintage Japanese whisky bottled to date, although part of its back story remains shrouded in mystery. A total of £72,600 was raised from 79 lots at the sixteenth DWWA wine auction hosted by Christie’s on 2 December – beating a record set in 2018. This total excludes Christie’s buyer’s premium. All proceeds will be added to funds raised by Decanter throughout the DWWA this year.
