German, intraspecific cross made in 1955 by August Karl Herold (1902-1973) between the helfensteiner and the heroldrebe (more details, click here!). With these same parents he also obtained the hegel. The Dornfelder can be found in Switzerland, United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Canada, United States, ... . Virtually unknown in France, we nevertheless recognize a certain interest in it due to its short phenological cycle and the quality of its wines, both rosé and red.

Moravia, with roughly 95 percent of the nation's Vine plantings, is the engine room of the Czech Republic's wine industry. Table wine, but with the origin indicated. It corresponds to a particular legislation: the freedom to use grape varieties is greater than for the AOC, but the quality criteria such as the approval tastings can sometimes be more demanding. The legislation is still evolving, but for the moment there are three levels: regional (e.g. Vin de Pays d'Oc), departmental and local (e.g. Côtes de Thongue).
