More rarely vinified into confidential sweet and liqueur wines from the Aeolian Islands, with a dark colour, luscious palate and aromas of candied black fruit, raisins and spices. DOC sub-region at the heart of the Portuguese Alentejo (Reguengos de Monsaraz and Évora), on granite and schist soils with a hot continental climate. One of the eight Alentejo sub-regions. Aragonez (Tempranillo), Trincadeira and Periquita are the native red signatures, with cherry, dark chocolate, earth and tobacco in a concentrated, well-balanced palate. Roupeiro, Rabo de Ovelha, Manteúdo and Perrum produce round whites.
