The wine region of Lambrusco Salamino di Santa Croce
Emilian DOC (1970) north-west of Modena around Carpi, fertile clay plain. Lambrusco Salamino is the exclusive signature red (≥85%, salami-shaped grape clusters): sparkling ruby with violet hues, fresh and structured with intense notes of strawberry, cherry, raspberry, flowers and a floral touch, crisp acidity and fine tannins — the most full-bodied of the Lambruscos. Secco and amabile versions in frizzante style. Ideal with cotechino and Parmigiano.
The wine region of Emilia-Romagna
Kingdom of Lambrusco: fresh, fruity sparkling reds (blackberry, cherry, violet), from gourmet dry to convivial off-dry, perfect with local charcuterie. World's best-selling sparkling wine on the Emilia side (Sorbara, Grasparossa, Salamino). East, Romagna: supple fruity Sangiovese, Albana (Italy's 1st white DOCG, 1987) ample and almondy. Also red Gutturnio and white Pignoletto.
The word of the wine: Slim
A thin wine, lacking flesh and body.
