Intraspecific cross between gamay noir and reichensteiner obtained in 1970 by André Jacquinet at the Agroscope Changins-Wädenswil research station (Switzerland). From these same parents he also obtained the gamaret and the garanoir. It should not be confused with the Romanian direct producer hybrid, also black, resulting from an interspecific cross between 12 303 Seyve-Villard and ozana. Regnié is an appellation for red wines made from Gamay grapes in the northern Beaujolais, covering land immediately east of the Village of Beaujeu. Regnié wines are among the lightest of the Beaujolais crus. They are fragrant and structured, with refined tannins. The communes of Regnié-Durette and Lantignié were once Part of the more Generic Beaujolais Villages appellation.
