Very early-ripening variety suited to northern climates: a quiet star of modern English wines, also grown in the Pacific Northwest and Anjou. Hybrid created in 1857 by Moreau-Robert in Anjou (madeleine royale × précoce de Malingre).

Signature Vranac as red king (50% of vineyard, indigenous national variety): deep and powerful with notes of black blackberry, candied cherry, plum, chocolate, tobacco, leather and spices, firm tannins and solar palate — country's identity.
