Made as light easy-drinking reds, popular semi-dry cuvées and more structured barrel-aged versions. The second most planted red variety in Germany (Palatinate, Rheinhessen, Württemberg). Cross of helfensteiner × heroldrebe created in 1955 in Weinsberg by August Herold.
