Discover the grape variety: Furmint

Taut, structured whites with cutting acidity and a mineral mouth, featuring aromas of apple, quince, citrus, honey, smoke and chalk notes. Made as ambitious dry wines (Tokaji száraz, Somló), off-dry and especially sumptuous botrytised sweet wines: Tokaji Aszú (legendary, classified by puttonyos) and Tokaji Eszencia. Highly susceptible to noble rot. The absolute star of Tokaj in Hungary, also in Slovakia, Slovenia (Šipon) and Austria. Native Hungarian grape.

The wine region of Nagy-Somló

Smallest AOC in Hungary, around an isolated extinct volcano in Transdanubia, 100% basaltic bedrock. Juhfark signature as king white ("sheep's tail", almost exclusive native): opulent and mineral with yellow apple, citrus, honey, toasted almond, herbs and a volcanic smoky touch, high acidity and long ageing — known as "wine of the wedding night" under the Habsburgs. Taut Furmint, floral Hárslevelű (linden, honey), zippy Olaszrizling. Outstanding whites, rivals of Tokaj.

The wine region of Balaton

Hungarian region around the largest lake in Central Europe, 6 zones including volcanic Badacsony. Signature Olaszrizling (Welschriesling), Hungary's most planted grape: lively, mineral whites with signature notes of almond, citrus, green apple, white flowers and a herbaceous touch, a crisp finish - a typical thirst-quenching wine. Also round Szürkebarát (Pinot Gris), ample Chardonnay, rare native Kéknyelű. Basalt in the north, lakeside climate.

The word of the wine: Natural sweet wine

Wine obtained by mutage with wine alcohol of the must in the course of fermentation, from the Muscat, Grenache, Macabeu and Malvoisie grape varieties, and corresponding to strict conditions of production, richness and elaboration.
