Discover the grape variety: Pinot noir

Pinot noir is an important red grape variety in Burgundy and Champagne, and its reputation is well known! Great wines such as the Domaine de la Romanée Conti elaborate their wines from this famous grape variety, and make it a great variety. When properly vinified, pinot noit produces red wines of great finesse, with a wide range of aromas depending on its advancement (fruit, undergrowth, leather). it is also the only red grape variety authorized in Alsace. Pinot Noir is not easily cultivated beyond our borders, although it has enjoyed some success in Oregon, the United States, Australia and New Zealand.

The wine region of Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru

Grand Cru of 3. 3 ha at Gevrey-Chambertin (Côte de Nuits) — at higher elevation than its Grand Cru neighbours: 100 % Pinot Noir with elegant, lace-like structure and cutting minerality. Ruby robe, nose of red and black fruit (cherry, raspberry), floral and spicy notes evolving to undergrowth, truffle and leather. Poor, stony and shallow soils of white limestone and marl.

The wine region of Burgundy

Absolute reference for great terroir wines: opulent, mineral Chardonnay in whites (chiselled Chablis, buttery Meursault, majestic Montrachet), fine and silky Pinot Noir in reds (full-bodied Gevrey, structured Pommard, delicate Volnay). Exceptional age-worthy wines with complex notes - red fruits, undergrowth, butter, hazelnut. Some lively Aligoté and light Gamay (Mâconnais). 29,500 ha, 84 tiered AOCs (Régionale, Village, 1er Cru, Grand Cru), 1,247 UNESCO Climats.

The word of the wine: Great wine

In the Bordeaux vineyards, the grand vin is the main wine of the château, although a "second wine" is usually produced. It is a wine of lesser ageing made from the youngest vines.
