The wine region of Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru

Grand Cru straddling Chambolle-Musigny (light limestone soils) and Morey-Saint-Denis (heavier clays) in Côte de Nuits: 100% Pinot Noir — reds renowned for richness, power and longevity. Complex profile of black fruits (blackberry, plum), floral notes, spices and earthy undertones. Full-bodied and robust palate, harmonious fruit-acidity-tannin balance, silky texture and long finish. Ages 30-50 years, most structured wine of the area.

The wine region of Burgundy

Absolute reference for great terroir wines: opulent, mineral Chardonnay in whites (chiselled Chablis, buttery Meursault, majestic Montrachet), fine and silky Pinot Noir in reds (full-bodied Gevrey, structured Pommard, delicate Volnay). Exceptional age-worthy wines with complex notes - red fruits, undergrowth, butter, hazelnut. Some lively Aligoté and light Gamay (Mâconnais). 29,500 ha, 84 tiered AOCs (Régionale, Village, 1er Cru, Grand Cru), 1,247 UNESCO Climats.

The word of the wine: Mercaptan

Organic compound resulting from the combination of alcohol and sulphide (H2S) producing an unpleasant odour reminiscent of town gas and rotten eggs.
