Located in the Ebre Valley, in the region of Rioja in Spain, Domaine Allende was founded in 1986 by Miguel Ángel de Gregorio, one of Spain's most respected and innovative winemakers. The estate spans 33 hectares of vineyards, with the mountains of the Sierra Cantabria as a backdrop, creating a spectacular wine landscape. The name "Allende" means "beyond", which perfectly reflects the winemaker's philosophy of an unending quest for perfection and constant modernization while respecting the wine-making traditions of the region. The estate has distinguished itself for producing wines of great elegance and delicate complexity. The vineyard is mainly planted with Tempranillo, with a few plots of Graciano and Viura, the two native grape varieties of Rioja. The vines are grown using sustainable and environmentally friendly viticulture methods, without the use of chemical pesticides or herbicides. The average age of the vines is 40 years, which contributes to the production of wines with great aromatic intensity and a solid structure. In the cellar, respect for tradition blends with modern winemaking techniques. It is in these underground cellars, with their controlled temperature and humidity, that each wine is carefully crafted. Each plot is vinified separately to preserve the unique expression of the terroir, and fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts. Domaine Allende is known for its Rioja Allende, a deliciously complex and balanced red wine, rich in red fruits, with well-integrated oak notes and a beautiful length on the palate. But the other wines in the range also deserve attention, such as the Calvario, a deep and expressive wine made from vines over 65 years old.
