More productive. Almost absent from commercial cultivation, preserved in Valaisan variety collections for its heritage value and ampelographic interest. A rare Valaisan white grape, cousin of Petite Arvine, grown in negligible quantities in Valais.

The wine region of Pfalz
Fleshy, dry, fruity Riesling is the region's signature: yellow peach, apricot, ripe citrus, lovely mineral tension. Germany's largest red-wine area (40%), with silky Spätburgunder showing red fruit and spice, darker structured Dornfelder, supple Portugieser. Some rounded Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. A 23,640 ha vineyard along the Haardt, among Germany's warmest (>2,000 h of sun).
The word of the wine: Rebêche (champagne)
Must obtained in excess of the 2 550 litres authorised for a weight of 4 000 kilos of grapes. The first 2 050 litres constitute the cuvée and the next 500 litres the taille. The rebêche represents 1 to 3 % of the total volume and must be distilled or used to make ratafia.
