Located in Bordeaux, Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is considered one of the exceptional quality vintages (2nd Grand Cru Classé), producing one of the best red wines in the world. Pichon Comtesse de Lalande was established in the early 19th century by the Lalande family, amalgamating two neighbouring estates purchased by its predecessors. In 1986, the Château was purchased by AXA Millésimes, a French company specialized in managing prestigious vineyards. The Estate stretches over 51 hectares and its surroundings include four neighboring estates (Château Pichon Baron, Château Batailley, Château Lagrange and Château Latour). It is planted with wine varietals that are specific to the region, notably Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Château Pichon Lalande produces two wines each year: the grand wine, Pichon Comtesse de Lalande, and the younger wine, Pichon Baron, enjoyed en primeur. Château Pichon Comtesse de Lalande is considered one of the greatest wines of Pauillac. Its color is a purplish red with aromas of red fruits, spices and ripe tannins. It is very balanced and intense with a rich tannic structure and woody notes.
