Discover the grape variety: Pinot noir

Pinot noir is an important red grape variety in Burgundy and Champagne, and its reputation is well known! Great wines such as the Domaine de la Romanée Conti elaborate their wines from this famous grape variety, and make it a great variety. When properly vinified, pinot noit produces red wines of great finesse, with a wide range of aromas depending on its advancement (fruit, undergrowth, leather). it is also the only red grape variety authorized in Alsace. Pinot Noir is not easily cultivated beyond our borders, although it has enjoyed some success in Oregon, the United States, Australia and New Zealand.

Tasmania is the island state of the island continent and the southernmost state of Australia. It Lies 240 kilometres (150 miles) off the coast of Victoria">Victoria, across Bass Strait - a relatively shallow channel that separates the Great Australian Bight from the Tasman Sea. As in the Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula, across Bass Strait in Victoria, the main grape varieties are Pinot noir and Chardonnay, and all three regions are renowned for their Sparkling wines. The word of the wine: Phylloxera

Aphid that came from America and ravaged European vineyards at the end of the 19th century. It lives on the roots of the vine, from which it pumps the sap. The only vines capable of resisting it had to be imported from the United States, and then grafted onto their root system the wood of traditional French grape varieties. Today, grafted vines are always planted.
