The wine region of Almaty
Cradle of Kazakh wine in the foothills of the Tian Shan, high-altitude vineyards (up to 2. 500 m in the Assa valley), continental climate with marked day-night temperature swings preserving acidity. Saperavi and Pinot Noir are the signature reds: Saperavi deep with dark fruits, plum and a spicy touch; Pinot Noir fine and silky with cherries. Riesling is the taut signature white with citrus and minerality.
The word of the wine: Free-run wine
The free-run wine is the wine that flows out of the vat by gravity at the time of running off. The marc soaked in wine is then pressed to extract a rich and tannic wine. Free-run wine and press wine are then aged separately and eventually blended by the winemaker in proportions defined according to the type of wine being made.
