The wine region of Alsace Grand Cru 'Kirchberg de Barr'
Grand Cru of Barr in the Bas-Rhin (sheltered southeast, 220-350 m, steep slope, brown calcareous soils on Bajocian limestone and Oligocene conglomerates, marly gravel). Riesling is the leading white with natural tension: rare precision, spring flowers, subtle mineral notes and grapefruit touches. Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris complement with delicate fruitiness and spiced aromas from the marly-limestone soils.
The wine region of Alsace
Capital of great French aromatic whites, most often dry and single-varietal. Straight, mineral Riesling (lemon, gunflint), opulent, exuberant Gewurztraminer (lychee, rose, spices), round, smoky Pinot Gris, floral, crisp Muscat, supple Pinot Blanc. Fine, fruity Crémants d'Alsace, exceptional sweet Vendanges Tardives and Sélection de Grains Nobles. 15,500 ha at the foot of the Vosges on varied soils, 51 Grands Crus since 1975.
The word of the wine: Venaison
Applied to the bouquet of a wine reminiscent of the smell of big game.
