Most certainly Portuguese, not to be confused with the Touriga Franca also of the same origin. In Portugal, where it is widely cultivated, it is used to produce, among other things, the famous red Porto. It is also found in Uzbekistan, Australia, South Africa, Cyprus, Spain, etc... very little known in France, although it is listed in the Official Catalogue of A1 vines.
The wine region of Madeirense is located in the region of Terras Madeirenses of Portugal. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Atlantis or the Domaine Ilha produce mainly wines pink, white and red. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Madeirense are Verdelho, Touriga nacional and Cabernet-Sauvignon, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Madeirense often reveals types of flavors of earth, oak or citrus fruit and sometimes also flavors of red fruit, tree fruit or tropical fruit.
