Wines made from Chardonnay grapes of Ronchi di Brescia
Discover the best wines made with Chardonnay as a single variety or as a blend of Ronchi di Brescia.
Whites with many faces: mineral and taut at Chablis (lemon, green apple, flint), opulent and buttery at Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet (hazelnut, brioche, yellow fruits), tense and chalky in Champagne (Blanc de Blancs). Also vinified sparkling and widely exported (Sonoma, Margaret River, Casablanca). A Burgundian variety, a cross of Pinot Noir × Gouais Blanc, half-sibling of Aligoté.
Lombard IGT (1995) on 12 communes in the hills north of Brescia (Botticino, Cellatica, Concesio, Nave, Caino…). Marzemino, Barbera and Cabernet are the signature reds with intense cherry, blackberry, plum and a spiced hint, round tannins and generous fruit. Supple Merlot, fresh Schiava and Sangiovese as complements. Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco and Trebbiano as balanced whites with flowers and citrus.
