Tuscan DOC (1989) on the south Tyrrhenian coast (Piombino, Suvereto elevated to DOCG 2011), a maritime extension of the Maremma. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot lead in reds ('Tuscan-Bordeaux' style close to Bolgheri) — full-bodied and precise with cassis, black cherry, plum, garrigue and a mineral edge, ripe tannins and excellent ageing potential.
