The wine region of Óbidos is located in the region of Lisboa of Portugal. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Quinta das Cerejeiras or the Domaine Quinta Varzea da Pedra produce mainly wines red and white. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Óbidos are Touriga nacional, Fernao Pires and Chardonnay, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Óbidos often reveals types of flavors of citrus fruit, non oak or microbio and sometimes also flavors of oak, earth or tree fruit.
In the mouth of Óbidos is a powerful. We currently count 10 estates and châteaux in the of Óbidos, producing 24 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Óbidos go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, pasta or veal.
On 19 September 2021, the Cumbre Vieja volcanic ridge in the island of La Palma, Spain began a massive, three-month long eruption, that was a catastrophic event for this westward island in the Canarias. One the pioneering English wine estates, Bolney has a portfolio of sparkling and still wines that have won several awards. It was founded in 1972 by Janet and Rodney Pratt and is now run by their daughter, and winemaker, Sam Linter.
