The wine region of Portalegre is located in the region of Alentejo of Alentejano of Portugal. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Tapada do Chaves or the Domaine Tapada do Chaves produce mainly wines red, white and pink. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Portalegre are Tempranillo, Touriga nacional and Fernao Pires, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Portalegre often reveals types of flavors of oak, non oak or earth and sometimes also flavors of microbio, tree fruit or citrus fruit.
In the mouth of Portalegre is a powerful. We currently count 10 estates and châteaux in the of Portalegre, producing 21 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Portalegre go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, lamb or veal.
Clotilde Davenne, from the eponymous estate, mentions the cherry as a main characteristic of the Irancy appellation. She tells us about the Pinot Noir variety which reveals, in its northern location of Bourgogne, lots of freshness and fruitiness that gives the appellation a very special place among the wines of the region.
