The wine region of Taburno
Campanian DOCG (Sannio) around Monte Taburno, hillside vineyards on clay-limestone and volcanic soils, more temperate and windy than Taurasi. Aglianico signature as red king (≥85%, specific Taburno biotype): powerful and fresh with blackberry, black cherry, plum, violet, herbs, leather and volcanic mineral hint, firm tannins and vibrant acidity — more balanced and fruity than Taurasi or Vulture. Riserva with 3 years ageing. Structured gem of Sannio.
The wine region of Campania
Cradle of southern Italy's great wines on volcanic soils. Majestic Aglianico in red: structured, deep and tannic with notes of black cherry, candied plum, leather and spices, sublimated in age-worthy Taurasi DOCG, the "Barolo of the south". Identity whites of Irpinia: opulent Fiano di Avellino (honey, hazelnut), mineral iodine Greco di Tufo, aromatic Falanghina (peach, flowers). Also supple Piedirosso.
The word of the wine: R-C (champagne)
Harvesting-cooperator. It is the cooperative which elaborates the champagne of its members from their mixed contributions. It gives them bottles on which they stick their own label. It is legal without being intellectually honest. When you walk around the Champagne region, you may come across signs that say "Vigneron récoltant" to indicate a member of a cooperative. You can always ask him where his vats and press are.
