Late-ripening red variety from south-west France.

Central Ballard Canyon, fleshy, spicy Syrah. Hotter east, structured Bordeaux Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Rhône varieties. Also Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Gewurztraminer.
