The wine region of Southern Fieurieu

South Australian GI on the Fleurieu Peninsula and Mount Lofty Ranges (AGI 2001, 510 ha). Maritime climate moderated by the Southern Ocean and Gulf St Vincent, constant southerly breezes, loamy-sandy to clay soils over limestone and buckshot gravel. Shiraz (25%) leads with juicy dark fruits, fine spice and freshness. Chardonnay (18%) crisp and mineral, Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) structured, Sauvignon Blanc (14%) bright and aromatic.

The wine region of Australie du Sud

Cradle of the great Australian Shiraz: powerful, sun-drenched reds with notes of blackberry, candied plum, pepper, chocolate and eucalyptus, ample tannins and vibrant fruit (Barossa, McLaren Vale). Firm, minty Cabernet Sauvignon on Coonawarra (terra rossa). Dry, lemony Riesling from Clare and Eden Valley, straight and taut. Fresh Sauvignon and Chardonnay from Adelaide Hills.

The word of the wine: Castle

A term often used to designate wineries, even if they do not have a real castle.
