Established in the heart of the picturesque Western Cape province in South Africa, the Tesselaarsdal Estate is an exceptional winery that continues to excite the wine world with its vintages. Named after the remote little town of Tesselaarsdal, the estate distinguishes itself by its perspicacious viticulture, focused on creating high-quality red wines from Pinot Noir grape varieties. Spread over an extensive area, the vineyard bathes in an ideal Mediterranean climate, with wet winters and hot, dry summers. This weather condition, combined with soils rich in shale, sandstone, and clay, has allowed the production of distinctive, complex wines full of character. At the helm of this vineyard is Berene Sauls, a determined woman passionate about wine. She grew up in Tesselaarsdal and saw the potential of her native terroir to produce great wines. Thus, she created the Tesselaarsdal Estate in 2015, with the ambition to produce the highest quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of Tesselaarsdal. Since its opening, the estate devotes itself to the production of Pinot Noir, a delicate but expressive grape varietal that lends itself well to the climate and soil of the estate. The wines of the Tesselaarsdal Estate are recognized for their complex aromas of red fruits, violet, and spices, harmoniously supported by delicate tannins and fresh acidity. The philosophy of the estate is deeply rooted in respect for nature and the environment. Thus, sustainable agriculture is practiced in the vineyard, where human intervention is minimized in favor of natural processes. Domaine Tesselaarsdal is more than a producer of exceptional wines.
