Intensely coloured and powerful reds with a deep colour, firm tannins and high acidity, on aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, plum, garrigue, pepper, liquorice and balsamic notes. Old vines (>50 years, often centenary) yield exceptional cuvées. The wine region of Vinho de Portugal

A thousand-year-old wine country with 250+ native grapes across 14 distinct regions. National emblem Touriga Nacional (~12,000 ha): perfumed, deep reds with signature notes of violet, black fruits, eucalyptus, sweet spices and a balsamic touch, firm tannins - the base of the great dry Douros and of Ports. Also elegant Touriga Franca, spicy Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), fruity Castelão. Whites: lively citrusy Arinto, ample mineral Encruzado.

The word of the wine: Petiole

Stem of the leaf, connecting the leaf blade to the stem.
