Extreme northwest mountain AVA of Sonoma above Lake Sonoma (AVA 2002, 160 acres) at minimum 800 ft elevation: Zinfandel is the signature red king — concentrated with deep dark fruit intensity, peppery spices, mineral salinity and high acidity distinct from valley-floor Zins. Also fleshy Petite Sirah and structured Cabernet. Sandstone and thin schist soils over ferruginous red clay, signature lake thermal inversion.
