Mainly cultivated in the Languedoc region, carignan originates from Spain. Because of its very resistant branches, it is often called hardwood. Its bunches are quite large. Saint-Chinian is an appellation in the Languedoc-roussillon">Languedoc-Roussillon wine region of southern France.
