A very old variety grown in northern Italy and recently in Sardinia. It can also be found in Greece, New Zealand, etc. In France it is practically unknown. The wine region of Rioja

Rioja, in northern Spain, is best known for its berry-flavored, barrel-aged red wines made from Tempranillo and Garnacha. It is probably the leading wine region in Spain. It is certainly the most famous, rivaling only Jerez. The Vineyards follow the course of the Ebro for a hundred kilometres between the towns of Haro and Alfaro.

The word of the wine: Rootstock

American vine on which a French vine is grafted. This is the consequence of the phylloxera that destroyed the vineyard at the end of the 19th century: after much trial and error, it was discovered that the "pest" spared the roots of the American vines, and the technique became widespread.
