The wine region of Lagoa
Algarve DOC from southern Portugal (Albufeira, Lagoa, Loulé), sandy-calcareous soils bathed by the Atlantic and Mediterranean sun. Native Negra Mole (Tinta Negra Mole) as the signature light red: lively notes of red fruits, cherry, plum and a floral-spicy touch, supple tannins and fresh mouthfeel. Castelão and Trincadeira as complementary full reds. Crisp Arinto and aromatic Síria (Roupeiro) as the signature whites: citrus, white flowers and saline touch.
The wine region of Algarve
Region of southernmost Portugal between Atlantic and serra, ~3,000 hours of sun/year. Negra Mole as a native red signature (~75%): light and accessible with signature notes of red cherry, raspberry, ripe plum, Mediterranean herbs and a spicy touch, fine tannins — easy-drinking southern style. Supple Castelao, spicy Trincadeira, dense Touriga Nacional, sunny Syrah. Whites Siria, Malvasia Fina (yellow fruits, flowers), taut Arinto.
The word of the wine: Grand Cru
In Burgundy, the fourth and final level of classification (above the regional, communal and premier cru appellations), designating the wines produced on delimited plots of land (the climats) whose name alone constitutes the appellation. The climats classified as Grand Cru are 32 in the Côte d'Or plus one in Chablis which is divided into 7 distinct climats. Representing barely 1.5% of the production, the Grand Crus are the aristocracy of Burgundy wines.
