The wine region of Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru
Smallest Grand Cru of Gevrey-Chambertin (2. 7 ha, Côte de Nuits) on an unusual slightly north-easterly slope: 100% Pinot Noir in an aromatic and balanced style contrasting with its muscular neighbours. Deep robe, intense nose of griotte cherry (origin of the name), violet and red fruits, palate with tender fruit and a velvety texture. Slower maturation, free-draining stony soils with a thin brown layer (10–30 cm) over calcareous bedrock — fragrance and silkiness are its signatures.
The wine region of Burgundy
Absolute reference for great terroir wines: opulent, mineral Chardonnay in whites (chiselled Chablis, buttery Meursault, majestic Montrachet), fine and silky Pinot Noir in reds (full-bodied Gevrey, structured Pommard, delicate Volnay). Exceptional age-worthy wines with complex notes - red fruits, undergrowth, butter, hazelnut. Some lively Aligoté and light Gamay (Mâconnais). 29,500 ha, 84 tiered AOCs (Régionale, Village, 1er Cru, Grand Cru), 1,247 UNESCO Climats.
