Vivid, structured whites with a golden robe, taut mouthfeel and sharp acidity, with aromas of apple, citrus, green walnut, curry, spices and intense oxidative notes (vin jaune aged under a yeast veil) evoking walnut, roasted almond and the distinctive "goût de jaune". The wine region of Salto
Historic birthplace of Uruguayan Tannat (Pascual Harriague, 1860) in the north-west of the country, continental climate with marked thermal swings, clay soils. Tannat as the signature dominant red: deep colour, intense notes of blackberry, black plum, ripe cherry, tobacco, cocoa and a leathery-spiced touch, firm but velvety and more approachable tannins than in Madiran. Structured Cabernet Sauvignon and supple Merlot as complements. Founding identity of Uruguayan wine.
The word of the wine: Village
Term used in certain regions to identify a particular sector within a larger appellation (Beaujolais, Côtes-du-Rhône).
