A very old and rare Greek grape variety that is still cultivated to some extent in the Cyclades, particularly in the Santorini archipelago. D.N.A. analyses have shown that it is related to Assyrtiko. On the island of Corfu, a black grape variety called Gaïdouricha is cultivated, but it is not related to Assyrtiko. Gaïdouria can be found in Turkey, but it is unknown in France and in most other wine-producing countries.

The wine region of Gurjaani

The wine region of Gurjaani is located in the region of Kakheti of Georgia. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Oda Family or the Domaine Vachnadziani Valley (ვაჩნაძიანის ველი) produce mainly wines white, red and pink. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Gurjaani are Saperavi, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Gurjaani often reveals types of flavors of earth, red fruit.
