Adds structure and finesse to Béarn blends, both in crisp dry and passerillé sweet styles. Component of Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh AOC and Béarn AOC. Very rare native Béarn variety, undergoing a revival.

France's 2nd-largest AOC vineyard, two complementary worlds. Northern: pure Syrah in signature reds (Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage, Cornas), deep and peppery with blackberry, violet, black olive and smoked bacon notes, exceptional ageing. Opulent Viognier whites (Condrieu, apricot, flowers) and ample Marsanne-Roussanne. Southern: sun-soaked Grenache blends at Châteauneuf, Gigondas, Vacqueyras (candied fruit, garrigue).
The word of the wine: Powdery mildew
Disease of the vine due to a fungus. Less dreadful than mildew, it only attacks the surface of the green parts. Sulphur has long been the best remedy.
