Discover the grape variety: Mérille

Supple, fruity reds with a clear ruby colour, soft tannins and a charming palate, showing simple aromas of red fruits (cherry, raspberry), gentle spices and floral notes. Airy profile to drink young. Preserved for its heritage value, it survives in a few patrimonial plots in Tarn-et-Garonne and Lot-et-Garonne, among the ancient varieties of the South-West under study. Also called Bouysset. Native black variety from South-West France, today rare.

The wine region of Crozes-Hermitage

Largest cru of the northern Rhône around Tain: signature Syrah as the exclusive king red - fruity and accessible with notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, raspberry, violet, black pepper and a black-olive touch, supple tannins, more approachable than Hermitage. Marsanne and Roussanne in ample whites (peach, apricot, honey, white flowers, almond). AOC (1937), ~1,700 ha over 11 communes (Drôme), granite on northern slopes, pebble-loess on the plain, ageing 3-8 years.

The wine region of Rhone Valley

France's 2nd-largest AOC vineyard, two complementary worlds. Northern: pure Syrah in signature reds (Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage, Cornas), deep and peppery with blackberry, violet, black olive and smoked bacon notes, exceptional ageing. Opulent Viognier whites (Condrieu, apricot, flowers) and ample Marsanne-Roussanne. Southern: sun-soaked Grenache blends at Châteauneuf, Gigondas, Vacqueyras (candied fruit, garrigue).

The word of the wine: Bordeaux futures

Bordeaux wines are expected 2 to 3 years before bottling. In the spring following the harvest, the wines are offered by the châteaux to the Bordeaux wine merchants via the brokers.
