Sierra Nevada foothill AVA (El Dorado County, 21,000 acres, 600-900 m, California's second-highest average altitude, decomposed granite): Zinfandel signature red — bright red fruits (raspberry, berries), spiced notes and impressive depth, tannic complexity forged by thermal amplitude. Syrah, Barbera, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache complement. Hot days and cool altitude nights build polyphenols and complex aromas.
