The wine region of Falerio Pecorino

DOC in the Marche around Ascoli Piceno (hillsides 150–250 m, draining clay loams, Mediterranean, Sibillini mountains). Pecorino exclusive flagship white (≥85%): distinctly mineral with Mediterranean herbs, spices and lemon, lively refreshing acidity, delicate orange-blossom, straw and almond notes, structured palate, alc. ≥12°. A near-extinct grape replanted in the 1980s.

The wine region of Marche

Italian star of Verdicchio: exceptional age-worthy whites, straight and mineral with signature notes of green almond, lemon, green apple, dry herbs and a slightly bitter finish. Two DOCGs: Castelli di Jesi (coastal, airy) and Matelica (inland, more concentrated). Mediterranean reds: fleshy Montepulciano in Rosso Conero near Ancona, supple Sangiovese. Also fresh Pecorino and Passerina.
