Nervy, saline whites with cutting acidity and enveloping richness, showing aromas of grapefruit, lime, pear, white flowers, fresh almond, fennel and marine iodine notes. Slightly bitter finish. Star of Sardinia (Vermentino di Gallura DOCG), Liguria, coastal Tuscany (Bolgheri) and Corsica. Also in Provence and Languedoc-Roussillon as Rolle. An autochthonous Mediterranean variety.

Ligurian DOC from the Genoese hinterland (Polcevera valley, communes of Genoa, Sant'Olcese, Serra Riccò, Mignanego), steep clay-schist soils under Tyrrhenian breezes. Vermentino, Bianchetta Genovese and Albarola (≥60%) are the signature whites: lively and delicate with citrus, meadow flowers, white fruits and a saline-mineral finish. Dolcetto, Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo (≥60%) in supple reds with red fruits.
