Powerful, sun-drenched reds with a dark robe and generous alcohol, showing aromas of stewed blackberry, stewed plum, dried fig, chocolate, gentle spice and balsamic notes. Supple tannins, indulgent finish. Star of Puglia with Primitivo di Manduria DOC, Gioia del Colle DOC and Salice Salentino. Identical to American Zinfandel and Croatian Crljenak Kaštelanski by DNA analysis.
DOC of southern Tuscany (Pitigliano hills, volcanic tuff and clay, "little Jerusalem"): Trebbiano Toscano (>=40%) in a lively, elegant white with white flowers, green apple, citrus and a racy saline-volcanic touch. Grechetto, Greco, Malvasia Bianca and Verdello as complements. Styles: dry, sparkling metodo and the famous sweet honeyed Vin Santo della Toscana. Same terroir as Bianco di Pitigliano DOC.
