The wine region of Zitsa is located in the region of Ioannina of Epiros of Greece. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Zoinos or the Domaine Glinavos produce mainly wines white, red and sparkling. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Zitsa are Agiorgitiko, Cabernet-Sauvignon and Merlot, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Zitsa often reveals types of flavors of non oak, earth or microbio and sometimes also flavors of vegetal, oak or tree fruit.
We currently count 2 estates and châteaux in the of Zitsa, producing 21 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Zitsa go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, lamb or spicy food.

The small island of Gorgona, just off the coast of Livorno, isn’t your run-of-the-mill viticultural area – its main purpose is to serve as a penal colony. Not just any prisoner can reside on Gorgona, however. Up to 90 incarcerated men live on the island at a time, alongside 17 residents and a handful of police officers. I clearly remember the summer of 2014 in the Rhône. We were there on holiday, staying not far from the hill of Hermitage.
